GAZIMAGUSA - ''Turkish Cypriots want peace which will not repeat the incidents of the past and will be permanent without jeopardizing the future. Turkish Cypriots will never abandon this land,'' Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Mehmet Ali Talat said on Monday.
''What happened 32 years ago to Turkish Cypriots is a matter of sadness and concern today. We must learn from the lessons of those years. Any solution in Cyprus must address the safety of Turkish Cypriots who suffered brutal treatment by the Greek Cypriots 32 years ago. We must not forget that the Peace Operation took place only after the Sampson coup of July 15th, 1974,'' stressed Talat.
We will keep working for a future for the Turkish Cypriots in which they will not face the dangers or threats that earlier Turkish Cypriot generations faced in the island, added Talat.
