"Property is a complex and understandably emotive issue throughout Cyprus. The respective rights of original and later owners or occupants can only be resolved finally in a political settlement between Cypriots, not through legal action in British courts."
"It is important that the new North Cyprus Property Commission is used to its full potential in settling restitution and compensation claims. The Republic of Cyprus should consider establishing a similar structure without delay."
"It is unhelpful to economic development on the whole island if foreigners cannot feel safe investing their hard-earned cash in property there."
The Turkish Republiv of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)has been under economic and political isolation. The EU and the US promised to end isolation when the Turkish Cypriots supported the UN Peace Plan in 2004, yet no concrete step has been taken since then.
