In the 2004 Magnum Opus Awards, the Times won a Bronze Award for overall editorial quality. A second Bronze Award went to Smith for his feature, "Mainstreet Revolution Continues." An Honorable Mention was awarded to associate editor, Keith Miller for a profile of a RE/MAX associate titled, "Homegrown star finds big success in small Michigan community."
"The RE/MAX Times is our flagship publication and these awards confirm the quality of information we provide our associates," said Steve Woolley, RE/MAX International vice president. The Times is written and designed in-house by the company's communications department.
The Times and three other RE/MAX publications also won awards in two publications contests last spring.
The APEX contest is judged by the editors of the Writing That Works Business Communications Report. Judging criteria included graphic design, editorial content and the effectiveness and excellence of the publication.
The Magnum Opus Awards are judged by the Missouri School of Journalism and Publications Management, a publication industry newsletter. The judges weighed information and entertainment value, quality of writing, creative use of imagery and typography, and consistency of color palette and style.
